Harmonic Ear Trainer Update Submitted

Friday, April 23rd, 2010

Another update to the Harmonic Ear Trainer app is complete and has been submitted to Apple for distribution. This update fixes a bug where the app would sometimes crash when switching to the chord trainer. I also tweaked it to comply with iPhone OS 3.0. Unfortunately, that means that it will no longer run on iPhone OS 2.0, so if you want the free update, you’ll need to be running at least iPhone OS 3.1.3. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns regarding this change, and otherwise, you can look for the new version as a free download to existing users within the next week or so.

I’ve completed the latest update to the Harmonic Ear Trainer app, and it has been submitted to Apple for distribution on the App Store. This update allows users to hear intervals as descending arpeggios and allows replaying of incorrect as well as correct answers in both the chord trainer and interval trainer. Look for the updated version (1.1) on the App Store and as a free download for current users within the next couple of weeks.

Updates on the Way

Thursday, September 10th, 2009

In response to several user requests for additional functionality in the Harmonic Ear Trainer and Sync Points apps, I am in the process of adding some new features to both programs. I’m working on an update to the Harmonic Ear Trainer to give users the option to hear intervals as descending as well as ascending arpeggios and to hear the interval that they selected when they pick the wrong answer. I am also planning on expanding the Sync Points app to support drop frame time code. Look for these updates in the next couple of months. In the meantime, if you have any suggestions for any of my apps, feel free to send me an e-mail.

Harmonic Ear Trainer and Sync Points iPhone Apps Submitted

Sunday, May 31st, 2009

My first two iPhone apps are complete and have been submitted to Apple for distribution on the App Store. The first, Harmonic Ear Trainer, is a music theory tool that can help you learn to identify intervals, triads, and seventh chords aurally. The second app, Sync Points, is a film composers’ calculator that can determine precise timings, tempo, and beats for synchronization with film, video, or SMPTE timecode. Both apps are currently in review by Apple, and if everything goes smoothly, they should be available on the App Store in a week or so. They are compatible with both the iPhone and iPod touch. Keep your eye on this page for detailed information about both apps as well as links to purchase them on the App Store when they are officially released.
